This blog is a book project as an open book

The Station Chief is a non-fiction book project that, when complete, will tell the story of a man who participated from the shadows in key events in the Cold War. It will investigate one CIA officer’s real-life journey spanning nearly three decades from the beaches in Normandy to Berlin, Laos, Guatemala, Chile and elsewhere as the US sought to secretly change the course of other nations’ history in an effort to win the battle against Communism at all costs.

In investigative journalism, we tend to keep our cards close to our chest until we are ready to reveal our findings. But in a project focused on questions of secrecy, this blog takes the opposite approach, by opening up the investigative process from the start. Join me as I seek to get to the bottom of this unique story.
